With Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, fans of the sci-fi franchise finally got another successful story-based adventure at their fingertips. According to a new report, this could possibly receive a sequel in the current year.
Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment could possibly release a sequel to the action game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in the current year 2022, although such a sequel has not yet been officially confirmed. At least that is what a new report suggests.
The fact that the rumor of a return of the Jedi padawan Cal Kestis should be believed is due to the fact that it originated with Jeff Grubb, who is usually well informed and well connected. This now spoke about the unannounced sequel Giant Bomb.
According to Grubb, developers and publishers plan to present the action sequel “in a significant way” before E3 this year in June this year. This should make it possible for both parties to build up enough hype around the game until a release towards the end of 2022.
Rumors of a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order are not there for the first time. At the end of 2019, developer Respawn published three job postings for the Star Wars team, suggesting further work within the sci-fi franchise itself. A successor would not be surprising in that the first title received good reviews and was also a commercial success: the game had sold over 10 million times by 2020.
EA holds the rights to Star Wars console games until 2023, before other developers such as Ubisoft publish titles within the selling brand. So this year EA could score again exclusively.
