By now in the movie you’ve heard the news. And if not, I’ll tell you. E3 2022 will not be face-to-face due to the rate of infections that the Omicron variant is building up in the United States. It forced the organization to act quickly so as not to waste time and organize something decent because the previous one was… well, that could be improved.
However, this text is not at all a reproach to the organization. It is a liberation. I understand the decision and respect it deeplyBut my selfish inner child is afraid to revert to the soporific format of online events. These events reminded us of how many face-to-face events were missing. And the point is, even the ‘Pescadería Paqui’ in my neighborhood would organize an online event for you … a blast.
E3 is the lights, the spectacle and the voices of the people
To me, video game shows are something else, and I’ve visited quite a few inside and outside the country. It’s show business, shouts Keanu Reeves “You are breathtaking!… It’s seeing Ubisoft’s Cafeina or Phil Spencer take the stage to announce the purchase of a new studio or that the next big game from [INSERTE ESTUDIO AQUI] it will be exclusive to Xbox. It’s seeing the palms and screams of euphoric people… I think you get it. It may sound silly to you, but when I told my friends who are not related to video games on the subject, I always put the comparison that for me an E3 is like watching a Champions League final. .
A lot of the magic is lost when the manager announces the future of his company to you during a Zoom conference at 480p. that it’s another, I hope this year the people in charge of each event update their cameras, because if anything became clear in 2021, it was necessary.
If this year there won’t be E3 as such, I pray to all the gods that exist in all religions to spare us the long discussions from the developers about how the pixels move in their new graphics engine. What to see, cool, but now is not the time.
If this E3 2022 is not going to be face to face, I want games, games and more games
The good thing about the announcement that comes at the start of the year is that all businesses have time to prepare. Maybe this year Microsoft will give us something consistent with Bethesda like last year in a longer-than-usual conference, I have no doubt that Redmond will be giving a lot of gaming this year. In reality I especially liked the one from last year for the beat, the games, the commercials and nothing else that muddied the mood. At least I hope this year will be similar.
I’m confident that with this extra time the game company managers will put together a better show with everything they’ve learned from 2020 and 2021. The recipe is simple: game announcements, trailers for more games and new content for games. Everything else is superfluous.
