2021 was definitely an interesting year, not least when it comes to the world of anime. From highly anticipated releases like Season 5 of My Hero Academia, Megalobox: nomad, and Jojo’s bizarre adventure: Stone Ocean new favorites as well as unusual ones Special taxis, Pui Pui Molcar, and Ranking of kings, not to mention high profile feature films like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the movie: Mugen Train and Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0: Three times at a time, had an impressive selection of anime to watch last year. The good news: 2022 is expected to offer as many, if not more, exciting new series.

Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2
The fourth season of attack on Titan brings the popular dark fantasy epic finally to its long-awaited climax. Since Eren Jaeger’s supporters have taken control of the Walled City and the Marleyan military within striking distance, Eren must use all his titan powers to measure himself against Reiner Braun and decide the fate of all humanity. Jun Shishido and Yūichirō Hayashi return to co-direct the second half of last season, with Hiroshi Seko as lead writer adapting Hajime Isayama’s original manga.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (Season 2)

However, his plans don’t work out the way he wanted them to, resulting in a string of mishaps, accidental victories, and perhaps most surprising of all – a newfound popularity among his people.

Miss Kuroitsu from Monster DevelopmentIt follows the working life of Touka Kuroitsu, an employee of a company that secretly makes creatures for an evil organization out to take over the world. What is more shameful than world domination? Ineffective bureaucracy and senseless office politics, of course!

The orbital children
The first original production by acclaimed animator director Mitsuo Iso (Den-noh coil, Neon Genesis Evangelion) follows, in over 15 years, a group of children in 2045 stranded after a catastrophic accident on a newly opened commercial space station. With no hope of their parents’ salvation, children must use their wits and technique to avert a crisis that threatens their lives but the collective fate of humanity itself. Conceived as a two-part film series, The orbital children will be released on Netflix as a six-episode miniseries, with the first three premiering on January 28th.

Ranking of kings part 2
Ranking of kings quickly became one of the must-see anime of 2021 when it premiered last year, and the trailer for the second half of the season looks about as impressive as the first. Pick up immediately after completing his training at Desper, part 2 of Ranking of kings finds Bojii and his companion Kage on their way back to rescue his stepbrother Daida from the clutches of the nefarious underworld knight Ouken. With the lingering mystery behind Miranjo and the machinations of the late King Bosse and Queen Jiling’s coup attempt, tensions in the Kingdom of Bosse escalate into a fever!

Sabikui Bisco
Sabikui Bisco is set in a post-apocalyptic distant future where a mysterious plague called “rust” has turned Japan into a barren desert – the fabled “Sabikui”, a mushroom that is said to devour all forms of rust. The trailer sure looks as wild as the show’s fancy premise, with villainous henchmen in pink rabbit masks firing missiles that explode into mushrooms while Bisco and his partner Milo ride a giant pincer crab into battle.

Based on the light novel series of the same name She proclaimed herself the sage’s pupil is an Isekai fantasy drama centered around Sakimori Kagami, a 27-year-old gamer who, as a little girl, is transported into the world of his favorite game. Without knowing how he got there, Sakimori takes the name “Mira” and pretends to be the apprentice of a powerful wizard named Dunbalf, who disappeared 30 years ago. To find a way home, Mira must solve the riddle of how Dunbalf’s disappearance is related to her own mysterious arrival in this new world.

Tokyo 24th district
Directed by Naokatsu Tsuda, known for his work as a director at JoJo’s bizarre adventure, Tokyo 24th district is an original anime series set on an artificial island in Tokyo Bay. The series follows the story of Shuta, Ran and Koki; three childhood friends from different backgrounds whose lives are irrevocably changed by the loss of a dear friend. At a funeral a year later, the three of them received a message from their supposedly dead friend asking them to make a decision that will shape the future of the 24th station and all of the people who live there.

Tribe Nine
Tribe Nine, the anime based on a media franchise created by Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa, Akudama Drive) follows a group of gangs fighting for supremacy and survival in the futuristic metropolis “Neo Tokyo Country”. How do these cutthroat youngsters resolve their disputes? Through the elaborate fictional death sport known as Extreme Baseball (XB), of course! The anime definitely looks like a series from the makers of Danganronpa with Rui Komatsuzaki contributed character designs, and the premise itself sounds characteristically unusual and intriguing. Akudama Drive was a hit in 2020 and when Tribe Nine is similar, the audience is sure to have a wild time.
