Previously Lost Ark had a Closed Beta back in November 2021. Should you be excited for Lost Ark? Let’s take a look at what the gameplay trailer showed us!
Character Creation
Before jumping into the world of Arkesia, players will be given the opportunity to create and fully customize their characters. We know from the beta that there’s a surprising amount of options players can choose from for their character’s features.
At the moment, Lost Ark features five main classes. The melee classes are the Warrior, Martial Artist and Assassin. Ranged options are the Mage and Gunner. Each of these classes has advanced classes that give even more depth to the base jobs. Unfortunately, classes are currently gender-locked.
Tripod System
Lost Ark provides build customization in the form of its Tripod System. Each character class has a base set of skills. These skills can then be further customized by tweaking the way they work. Some Tripod enhancements change a skill’s duration, or decreases cast time, for example. Other times they can fundamentally change how a skill works, like freezing enemies in place instead of burning them with damage over time.
Each skill can have up to three separate upgrades applied to them.
This allows users to fully change how they choose to play. The Tripod System is highly reminiscent of the way Diablo 3 or Wolcen do it.
The World of Arkasia
The basic story premise is that demonic forces are invading the world of Arkasia in search of the Ark. This is a legendary artefact that holds the world in balance. Kazeros, the Lord of the Abyss intends to use this artefact to release himself from prison. The player must prevent this from happening at all costs. They will meet many allies in their quest to rebuild the Ark and prevent the destruction.
Players will get to explore the vast world of Arkasia on foot or by boat. Ship exploration is one of the features being touted by Smilegate Games. You’ll need to commandeer a ship worthy of sailing the seas to be able to explore more isolated islands. Players will also need to gather a crew to manage your ship and your spoils. There will also be a lot of customization for the ships’ looks to ensure that no two vessels look alike.
You will also be given your own private island later on in the game. Players will be able to build up their own private stronghold and tweak its features to their heart’s delight. With the production workshop, you’ll be able to craft furniture and decorations. The sky’s the limit!
Dungeons, Raids and Endgame Content
What would an MMORPG be without a host of exciting dungeons? Lost Ark features tons of dungeons, but those, later on, have an epic, cinematic feel to them. One of the early game dungeons that can be seen in the trailer features a player running up a tower while evading a dragon boss’ flame breath attacks.
Lost Ark PVP
If you get tired of smashing AI mobs, there’s always the PVP System. Lost Ark’s PVP features a level playing field. Player levels do not matter, as everyone is maxed out regardless of playtime. You’ll all have access to the same skills, upgrades, and stats. The 3v3 PVP Arena will be the main type of fight available in Lost Ark.
It’s only a few more weeks until the full Western release. We cannot wait to get our hands on this great-looking ARPG/MMO.
