Undead Labs is a study that is perhaps far from the great concern of everyone who makes up Xbox Game Studios. Development teams like 343 industries, Playground or Bethesda take all the spotlight and headlines, but the team in charge of the State of Decay saga knows how to work out of sight. And if they are focused on the development of the third opus, presented last year, they are not leaving State of Decay 2.
A title launched in 2018 and which over the years has improved. Something that will continue this 2022, as we have just discovered, with a major update that promises to change the way we survive and face the hordes of zombies.
State of Decay 2 infestations will now be more dangerous
In this way, just like revealed, the State of Decay 2 support team has several updates planned for this year that will continue to add, integrate, and improve gameplay mechanics. And their next goal is clear: to make infestations a even more formidable rival.
In this way, the support team will now focus on one of the most important and remarkable systems of the title, which will receive a deep facelift to make them even more fearsome and dangerous. Among all the improvements, it includes better communication and a more transparent user interface, with which Undead Labs wants to make it even clearer for the player how these infestations work, including how they can send out even larger and more dangerous hordes.
Another of the improvements they offer is that they are more dangerous. Currently they are not an active threat, as except for a large buildup that causes our survivors to drop in morale, there is no massive increase in danger. Now, with this new update, they want to be more dangerous, adding new features:
- Infestations will be able to create new hordes over time and with them establish new infestations, which will seek to grow in the direction of the player base.
- They will now have the ability to take over outposts and take over player areas.
- They will also be able to besiege player bases and communities using hordes.
- Plague Hearts will have a strong sense of intelligence and a consequent violent intent towards players.
But not only hordes and infestations will be boosted in State of Decay 2, as the support team intends to add new mechanics for players. Thus, they intend to add defensive traps in the outposts which allow them to be defended from the attack of the hordes.
State of Decay 2 is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, plus it’s included with Xbox Game Pass.
