It’s been some time now that NVIDIA’s next high-end graphics cards, the RTX-3090Ti, are on the lips of every hardware enthusiast. The technical specifications of the flagship model of MSI, your model DELETE X, just surprised everyone by requiring a power supply of 1000 watts, and funnily enough they did just when NVIDIA asked manufacturers to stop production of these graphics due to problems in your bios… but also in your Equipment. And, how advanced does MSI’s production of these GPUs seem, is it a manufacturer debacle?
It seems that the “low power” concept that nearly every manufacturer has been boasting about in recent years is something that’s wrong with next-gen graphics cards, and in MSI’s case, it’s surprising that they don’t. cut a hair from the specification that your new RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X will require nothing more and nothing less than 1000 watts in the power supply to run properly, even if the graphics card TDP is 480W. is it happening?
MSI’s RTX 3090 Ti, dead before birth
The purported leaked technical specifications of the MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X confirm that the graphics card will have a memory of 21 Gbps, as already assumed, and this means that this family of NVIDIA graphics will be the first to have such memory speed. In this model, MSI incorporates its highest-end custom cooling system, allowing the GPU to reach 1900 MHz in Extreme mode.
But is that reason enough for the graphics card to require a 1000 watt power supply? An interesting fact is that this model requires three 8-pin PCIe connectors from the power supply to work (instead of a single 16-pin connector), although it’s not yet clear whether MSI will go with the traditional connectors or the new one, capable of delivering up to 600W on its own. In any case, we are dealing with a graphics card with a 480 watt TDP
But it’s not a stillborn theme for that reason alone; If its technical specifications have already leaked, it is because MSI already has a very advanced production. In principle, these graphics cards were going to be launched on January 27, but now NVIDIA has stopped the manufacturers because, it seems, there are problems both in the BIOS and in the hardware itself.
What does it mean? That MSI could have made hundreds of these faulty graphics cards. If NVIDIA really stopped production of these GA102-350 GPUs due to issues, chances are the launch will end up being delayed, but the fact that MSI has its production so advanced can be a serious setback for the manufacturer, especially because if it was just a single BIOS issue, it’s something easy to fix, but since hardware issues are also cited, it’s possible that MSI has made hundreds or even thousands of press- very expensive papers.
And the “expensive” thing is the third nail in MSI’s coffin regarding this graph, since the price they will have has also been leaked, and as you can see below, it is 30% more expensive than the RTX 3090 at the time of his release:
- MSI RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X: from $3,654 to $4,497.
- MSI RTX 3090 Ti GAMING X TRIO: $3,571.
Of course, if you’re willing to pay that crazy amount for a graphics card, you’ll probably have no problem buying a power supply of 1000 watts or more, right?
