Anyone who plays Destiny 2 knows it: you’re always and constantly being flooded with blue engrams, which at a certain point have absolutely no value anymore. That seems to be changing with The Witch Queen expansion.
Bungie has commented on other changes players can expect with the Destiny 2: The Witch Queen expansion on February 22nd in a new blog post. One of them should make the fans of the game very happy: The end of the blue engrams is approaching, depending on the power level.
For this we have to digress a little. The expansion sets the base power level at 1350 for all players. The achievable soft cap for the period is then 1500. For upgrades through endgame activities there is then the power cap of 1550 and finally the hard cap of 1560, which is probably only achievable for absolute high-level players.
With the release of The Witch Queen, the loot drops are now adjusted to the power level. Say, as soon as you reach the soft cap of 1500, you will no longer receive rare blue loot from playlist activities and instead receive more legendary items. This should at least reduce the flood of useless items. Until the soft cap is reached, rare drops remain part of everyday life, which makes sense because you need them to upgrade your equipment.
Aside from that, Gunsmith Banshee-44 is getting a new reputation system that will eliminate Gunsmith materials going forward. So you should burn your stocks before the release of the expansion. Since weapon telemetry is also gone, the corresponding ghost shell mods are also gone.
The days of the mod components are also numbered, because from the expansion there are not only more mods, but you can simply purchase them with the currency mica. So it seems like The Witch Queen will cleanse your inventory a lot. Since Banshee-44 will be selling four mods at a time instead of two, Rahool is supporting him by selling Enhancement Prisms and Ascendant Fragments. Rahool will also decode Umbralgrams in the future, so you don’t always have to go to the HELM.
Finally, it was also confirmed that the new raid coming into play as part of the expansion is scheduled to start on March 5th.
