monster hunter rises The Steam launch was very successful as it seems players have been waiting since 2021 to play pre-Nintendo switch Exclusives are flocking to PC to see all the buzz around Kamura Village. The PC port even appealed to those who put 100 hours into the initial version of the Switch.
The PC version of Monster Hunter Rise launched on January 12, 2022, and at the time of writing, the number of concurrent players reached 134,262 (according to stats recorded on SteamDB). With Capcom’s PC release, those numbers immediately put the game in second place, usurping Resident Evil Village’s peak of 106,631 concurrent players when it launches in May 2021. It’s interesting to see a series like Monster Hunter, which is likely to split between the two branches of the world and rise in the future, attracting more players than a mainstream-oriented series like Resi.
Speaking of Monster Hunter World, Rise isn’t anywhere near the last game in the series’ popular launch week. Back in 2018, Monster Hunter World became the first Monster Hunter game on PC and broke records for Capcom, Steam and Japanese games overall, peaking at 240,901 concurrent players on Steam during its release window.
Monster Hunter Rise still has a chance to catch up, though; when a massive Sunbreak expansion rolls out to the game later this year, we’ll likely see another significant boost in the game’s popularity.
Monster Hunter Rise comes to PC on January 12, 2022 with updated armor sets and weapons related to Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Okami, Street Fighter, Mega Man 11, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection and non-Capcom Sonic Hedgehog.
