It’s a thing to beat Halo infinity on the hardest difficulty, where enemy ammo deals an extra hit. It’s quite another thing to waltz through the shooter’s seminal Brutalist architecture with such grace that yours Enemy firepower makes no difference at all.
Tom, a gloriole Gamer who pulls off ridiculous tricks and posts the exploits on his YouTube channel, Simple & smoothran through recently Halo infinity‘s campaign on Legendary difficulty (the highest setting) without taking a single hit. Here’s an absolutely insane compilation of the run:
Oh, and before you ask, Tom uploaded raw footage of the whole thing a five-part YouTube playlist.
The run, which lasted about seven hours in real time, is based on a basic rule: every time Tom took damage, he killed himself, thereby returning to the previous checkpoint. In the end, according to a death counter in the video, he had 239 deaths.
Contrary to intuition, it’s the early levels – designed as a tutorial for gloriole Newcomers – that proved to be the hardest. Speak with igamesnews, Tom described the first boss fight against a thug named Tremonius as one of the most challenging segments. After defeating Tremonius with a pile of explosive barrels and some well-placed needle shots, it wasn’t exactly a piece of cake, but it was a little easier thanks to an exploit that gave Tom a mobile version of the Scorpion Tank’s immensely powerful cannon.
It’s correct. If you make your way to the anti-aircraft cannons on the far wall on your first visit to Tremonius’ base, you can find a fully unattached Scorpion Cannon. You won’t see a prompt to pick it up, nor will you physically see it, but by holding down the “Equip” prompt you can use it. Despite occupying one of your two weapon slots and having a slow AF fire rate, it has unlimited ammo. Cheers to the Easter eggs!
As you can imagine, have a literal portable tank is invaluable for a challenge like this. The Monitor Adjutant Resolution, one of Halo infinityThe most frustrating recurring bosses of, goes down in seconds with this tool in hand. Most basic enemies die instantly. Paired with the accurate, fast-firing battle rifle, the arsenal makes for a potent combination – although Tom did note that rooms full of small enemies like grunts and jackals presented more of a challenge than those with just a handful of high-tier beasts.
Earlier this month, Tom made waves to lock Halo infinity (also on Legendary) without firing a single bullet. Completing this particular had been dependent upon an exploit that allows players to command a pelicanthe virtually invulnerable transport vehicles used by the Supreme Commander to get around gloriole. But this exploit adds to that the smallest some damage so it wouldn’t fly for a no-damage run. Instead, Tom used the Grappleshot’s “Ground Pound” bonus to smash through the map and find illegal routes through and around certain levels. (This is a common tactic among Halo infinity

However, you will find that Tom does not use Chief’s engine ability. If you level it up fully, you’ll become invisible for two seconds – a benefit you can imagine would be essential for a damage-free run Halo infinity. But Tom said his engine was inexplicably bugged. Whenever he used it, he would get stuck in a crouched position and cut his speed in half.
“I would have loved the invisibility,” said Tom igamesnews. “But I ended up getting used to being able to use bullets, so at least it’s a new skill to learn!”
As for why Tom even tried that, well, that’s… kind of his thing. Following the viral success of his melee-only run, one gamer with a dare wrote, “I have a feeling you need a tougher challenge. Can you pull off a legendary no damage run? [winky face],” They write.
As you can see, Tom is committed but has only one request to anyone who gets in his way with yet another challenge: “Be a little nicer!”
