Game news Ubisoft: an in-game tribute to a Rainbow Six player who passed away a few months ago
Ubisoft has just added a small element to its famous multiplayer FPS, Rainbow Six Siege, to pay tribute to one of the most famous players in its community, who passed away in 2021.

published in 2015, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is one of the most popular games from the great house of Ubisoft thanks to its obvious e-sports potential, which has been in operation for years. A title that brilliantly combines technique, intelligence and brutality, and above all that has managed to grow thicker over time with a lot of content that was added little by little.
As a result, a strong community was built, encompassing thousands of passionate gamers, including some pros: Today The R6 stage takes part in a small memorial service for one of the famous members, Michael “KiXSTAR” Stockley, who passed away last October in a car accident at the age of 24.
Above all, he was a professional player who became famous for his sharp performances, including a gesture particularly recognized in the Rainbow Six sphere: he had managed to take out five opposing players in just…eight seconds. From now on, a virtual plaque with his nickname can be seen in the exact place where his heroic act took place.
If he had started his career as a player well, KiXSTAR had successfully rebuilt as a commentator, still in the Rainbow Six Siege universe : He had even won one of the prizes at the Esports Awards for his ability as such.
Ubisoft’s small gesture didn’t fail to move some of those close to him, including Parker Mackay, his colleague and commentator friend, shared a quick message Twitter.
In an emotional tribute, Ubisoft added a plaque with the KiXSTAR logo at the bottom of the Plane map’s stairs, where he received his famous ace (a gesture where a single player single-handedly eliminates everyone on the opposing team, note). Thank you Ubisoft.
He also returned to his late relative’s impact within the game and its populace.
It’s really hard to explain to someone how legendary this video of his is. Presenting him with this plaque is a really touching gesture, I think, and it’s also a reminder of the impact he’s had on the game. I think it’s very appropriate.
Rainbow Six eSports Director Wei Yue also posted a screenshot of the plaque on Twitter (see earlier in the article), along with a message “{-}7” showing the character Tachanka in full salute. A well-placed nod to the entire Rainbow Six Siege community.
