Halo Infinite was finally released in December and promptly got off to the best start in the history of the successful franchise. A Battle Royale mode, which is apparently being developed externally, should now provide another spectacle.
Is Halo Infinite following a similar path to Call of Duty and will it also deliver a Battle Royale spin-off in addition to the actual main game? At least there seem to be signs in this direction at the moment.
A report by Windows Centreal, after which the Halo makers from 343 Industries bring in external help. It is said to be the Certain Affinity studio, which has made a name for itself in the past for helping other major studios with their projects. Among other things, the team has already helped several times with earlier Halo parts as well as with Call of Duty.
Meanwhile, Certain Affinity is said to be working on something big for Microsoft again, and according to the new report, they’re working on two major projects for PC and Xbox. One of them is said to be a new game mode for the recently released Halo Infinite.
There is speculation about a Battle Royale mode that appeared in the rumor mill via finds from Dataminer even before the actual main game was released. Since 343 Industries itself is busy with other upcoming game content for the top title – keyword: co-op and forge modes – outsourcing such a battle royale mode would only make sense. And that’s where Certain Affinity and previous Halo experiences could come into play.
In addition to a mode for Halo Infinite, the second project for Microsoft should be a completely new game that should offer a setting similar to Capcom’s Monster Hunter. There is no official confirmation of either rumor yet, but we will of course keep you posted.
