Microsoft is reportedly working on a game like Monster Hunter

game, Hunter, Microsoft, Monster, reportedly, working

Microsoft is going full steam ahead with the massive Activsion-Blizzard deal and doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down the pace of the gaming market. Now the well-known games journalist Jeff Grubb reports that Microsoft is developing a kind of Monster Hunter in cooperation with the shooter developer Certain Affinity (Halo, Doom).

Grubb referred to the game in a podcast (via Eurogamer) even as Monster-Hunter-Klon. Accordingly, Microsoft wanted this type of co-op game for the Game Pass subscription and decided to set the appropriate levers in motion.

While Jeff Grubb is considered well-informed and trusted within the industry, this is not official information. So enjoy them with a healthy dose of skepticism. However, there is another possible clue, this time from developer Certain Affinity itself.

Secret game in progress

As early as February 2021, Certain Affinity reported on its own Blog with effusive words to have signed an agreement. It’s about developing one new brand. One looks forward to the work, however the details of this new game are still VERY secret.

We are excited to announce today that we are leading the development of a new original IP! Are we excited to adopt a genre and playstyle we’ve always loved? Indescribably excited! Are we honored to bring this game to market? Indescribable! Are there any other enticing details about this new project? More than we can say!

Certain Affinity leaves no doubt as to how important this project is to the developer. In addition, the shooter developer explains that it is a new genre for them. That would suit a co-op monster hunt. It is conceivable, but by no means certain, that the new brand could be the Microsoft game mentioned by Jeff Grubb.
