Since the start of the new year, free games on the weekends have been a bit sparse. We still had the weekly free play at Epic, but apart from that, there wasn’t much worth mentioning. But this time it’s different again! The selection is still not huge, but there are a few very exciting candidates.
We therefore have another article for you in which we list all free promotions that are active from January 28th to 31st, 2022. This includes both games that you can keep forever and short-term trial periods. By the way, if you are looking for games that are not free but cheap, then it is worth taking a look at the current Steam Lunar Sale:

Star Wars: Squadrons – Space Action Test Video
Genre: Space Action | developer: Motive Studios | Release: October 2, 2020
Nobody would have believed that a publisher like EA would really commit to a game like Squadrons gets carried away. Because space action has long had a niche existence. Leaving aside big projects like Star Citizen, that’s another story. The fact is: It has been a long, long time since there has been a Star Wars game that focuses entirely on space combat.
Dogfights between X-Wings and Tie-Fighters are something that no Star Wars fan would want to miss. Squadrons tries to bring in a little more complexity. As a pilot of a squadron of the Rebels or the Empire, we take a seat in the iconic fighters. Each plane fulfills a different role depending on the type. Bombers like the Y-Wing deal heavy damage to battleships, while the U-Wing acts as a mobile repair station.
At its core, Squadrons is designed as an exciting multiplayer game in which we’ll compete against five other pilots as part of a squad of five. But during the space battles you have to pay attention to more than just steering in the right direction. You can redirect the various systems of the planes and, depending on the situation, boost your shields or increase your firepower. A good pilot must therefore know exactly what his boat needs at the moment.

Neon Abyss – Chrono Trap (DLC)
Chrono Trap is a currently free DLC for the action platformer Neon Abyss. The main game is about fighting gods with a group of warriors chosen by Hades. But despite the mythological theme, Neon Abyss presents its villains and heroes in a rather futuristic way. In addition, the mixture of roguelike, platformer and run’n’gun relies on a brightly colored light show including pixel art. The DLC introduces an endless mode and has the titan Chronos as a challenge in its arsenal.
To get the DLC, visit his steam page and click the green Add button. The expansion then ends up in your library forever. But you need the main game if you want to benefit from it. This is currently reduced and therefore only costs 10 dollars.
