PlatinumGames apparently wants to put a greater focus on the live service in future games.
The Japanese game developer PlatinumGames apparently wants to increase its focus on titles with a Games as a Service (GaaS) aspect.
Co-founder and CEO Atsushi Inaba said in an interview with Famitsu that he would like to see more games made that people love and enjoy over a longer period of time. This could move away from previous concepts of unique and well-designed games.
One of those games from PlatinumGames with a GaaS approach could be Project GG. Though Inaba didn’t directly confirm it, he said future game productions should be different from past ones. And Project GG should be one of them.
“Project GG is still in the testing phase, so I can’t say much about it, but when it comes to future game production, we want to focus on making games that are different from the past. I want to focus on making games that people can enjoy and love for a longer period of time.”
While the market will change over the next five years, as well as the structure of projects, Inaba says it will continue to develop “small but brilliantly designed games like Sol Cresta and games where you can enjoy the unlocking process.” .
