PlatinumGames weren’t kidding when they indicated an interest in further developing Scalebound.
A week ago, PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya signaled interest in further developing Scalebound.
But did he really mean it?
In an interview, it was therefore checked again in more detail. Kamiya told VGC that he was surprised that the topic was getting more attention. He said several times after the development stop that he would like to continue working on Scalebound.
“I find it really strange because to be honest I’ve given a lot of interviews since the end of the project and I think I’ve said a lot of times that I’d like to do it again.”
“Once I’ve accomplished something, as a creator, I’d like to accomplish it. And when I hear fans say they really want to play the game, which is a shame, I want to give them that.”
But he is happy that there are now so many reactions to it and confirms that it is not a joke, but that it was meant completely seriously.
“It’s something I thought I’d said or tried to say for years. I’ve said it before in interviews and gotten no reaction, but now I finally got a big reaction and I was happy to see it. But no, that’s not a joke: I’m completely serious, yes.”
When asked if they were in talks with Microsoft again about Scalebound, he gave an evasive answer.
“I can’t confirm or deny anything, but we could be in talks with Microsoft. But we could also talk to Nintendo, Sony, Capcom, Konami or anyone else!”
