Yes, we can schedule sending WhatsApp messages on our iPhone. Not with the WhatsApp app itself, but with the Shortcuts app. A very interesting mechanism that will allow us to send any message to anyone at any time without having to be present.

Scheduled messages using shortcuts

Programming the sending of messages is something that the WhatsApp app does not natively offer. It is true that some services on Android offer a similar result, but, it must be said, many of them work in a questionable way. On iOS, on the other hand, we have an almost official solution: the Shortcuts application.

The Shortcuts app allows us to send a WhatsApp message as part of running a Shortcut. At the same time, the Shortcuts application allows us to automate and program the execution of shortcuts, with interesting applications, depending, among other things, on the time of day. By combining the two, we have an effective and almost official solution to schedule the sending of a WhatsApp message. How are we going to do it? Yes indeed :

1. We open the application shortcuts on our iPhone.
2. We enter the tab Automating.
3. we touch Create a personal automation or on the “+” then we choose *Create a personal automation.
4. we choose time of the day.
5. low time of the day We enter the time at which we want to send the message.
6. low Repeat we choose Every month and we select from the calendar the day we want to send the message.
7. we touch following.
8. In the search engine at the bottom we write “Text” and choose the result Text.
9. We write or paste the message we want to send in the text box.
10. Again in the search engine at the bottom we are looking for “WhatsApp”.
11. We select Send a message.
12. At Recipients we choose the name of the contact, because we saved it in Contacts.
13. We press following.
14. We drop confirmation request (and even notifications).
15. Click on don’t ask.
16. We press Okay.

Ready. The steps, explained in a text, may seem a bit long, but the truth is that they are very intuitive. Also, once the automation is created, we can recycle it and reuse it to send other messages. It is important, however, that once we send the message, we enter the automation and uncheck Enable this automationto avoid repeating the following month.

Note that, when entering the automation options, it will be very easy for us to modify the time, the message and the recipient, simply by entering the different sections. At the end of the press edition Okay and we leave automation ready for second use.

It is true that other applications and messaging services offer the possibility of scheduling messages to be sent later. Facebook, on the other hand, doesn’t seem too eager to bring this feature to WhatsApp. In the meantime, fortunately, we have all the resources to automate shipping of a WhatsApp message in a fairly simple way.

In a sense, it should be noted that does not use somewhat questionable services, strange accounts or modifications in the application. A way that simply uses the same WhatsApp application, which offers actions for the Shortcuts application, and the possibility of planning the execution of actions, which is typical of iOS. So, in the most official way possible, we will send a message at any time without having to be present.
