The Japanese market has always been a headache for those in Redmond, due to Nintendo’s leadership with its handheld console and Xbox’s lack of initiative when it comes to moving its content and products to the islands. However, in recent years, we have seen great progress in Japan; which we’re also seeing reflected in more games on our consoles.
Xbox Game Pass has been the perfect place to launch great Japanese games and sagas on Xbox, such as Final Fantasy or the recently added Edge of Eternity. At the end of the last generation, Phil Spencer clarified his intentions with the Land of the Rising Sun, and after hard work; the sales compared to the Xbox One are really good, not to mention the great launch it had in the country.
The Xbox Series has sold in Japan what the Xbox One has in its entire life
Thanks to the famous magazine Famitsu, we know the total sales of the Xbox Series since its launch, a little over a year ago. Well, if we compare them to the sales of Xbox One and all its variants in Japan; the new generation exceeded the old one by more than 30,000 units. A fact that reflects the growing influence in the country.
Famitsu Xbox Series X|S has sold a total of 4,799 units and the total number of units in Japan has now exceeded 150,000 units.
While XB1 Gen sold a total of 120,000 units in Japan.https://t.co/GkljUNJpX5 pic.twitter.com/ikwPvFK1OH
