Whether it is the release of new games such Pokémon Legends: Arceus, or quirky collaborations with artists like Katy Perry, The Pokémon Company had no shortage of content for fans to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Still, the company continues to release new content for fans. On Friday, Pokémon’s official Japanese YouTube channel shared a new song and music video called “Reconnect” by producer Yaffle. In it, Pikachu dances his little heart in a candy store – and yes, it’s as great as it sounds.
The song, called “Reconnect,” features moody hip-hop verses over sizzling pop beats. Yaffle produced it and it features artists Daichi Yamamoto and AAAMYYY. In the video, Pikachu dances in a hazy bodega-like environment where the walls are lined top to bottom with brightly colored candy. It’s like turning a candy store into a club and then putting Pikachu and his friends inside.
Pikachu feels perfectly at home among all the candy. In the video, Pikachu performs a dance that looks like it should inspire a trend on TikTok since it’s so easy to follow and dance along with. He’s an absolute star and at one point teases the audience with a smug sideways glance. The concept has all the elements of an epic night: a neon vibe, sick streetwear, a giant relaxo that heads butts to the beat, and loads of candy. It looks like a fun time – even if it’s a little crowded.
The Pokémon Company has already released music videos featuring celebrity artists like Katy Perry and J Balvin to celebrate the special anniversary, and has released several new games over the past six months. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Glowing Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. If you want even more Pokémon, there’s also a Pokémon Presents live stream on February 27th featuring new announcements from the company.
