The fix will be available for iPhone XS and newer models!
if you know that iPhone screen replacement prevents Face ID from workingwhich excludes the possibility of home repairs, unless you have skills and a workshop equipped with a microscope, precision tools and micro-welding.
But as has been speculated for some time, and as a MacRumors article claims, thanks to a recently obtained internal document, the stores Apple and Authorized Service Providers Will Soon Be Able to Fix Face ID on iPhone XS and Other Newer Models, no need to replace the whole device.
Apple makes it easy to repair Face ID
Apple claimed that authorized service providers will soon have access to a new TrueDepth camera spare partwhich contains all the modules for Face ID and the front camera, which will allow repairs in the same device.
Authorized stores and service providers would use the Apple Service Toolkit diagnostic tool to determine when to perform a Face ID repair on the device itself, rather than a total replacement or “iPhone back system” repair.
Apple has announced that related documentation and training will be available at an unspecified later date. For the company, the measure contributes to reducing the number of complete unit repairs and is part of its commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of its products.
For its part, customers expect the cost of Face ID repairs within the same unit to be more affordable than a complete replacement, although the memo does not include pricing, according to the source.
Apple introduced Face ID on the iPhone X in 2017, but the device did not enter repair mode on the same drive for the TrueDepth system. Now, this kind of service will only be available for iPhone XS and newer models.
After the launch of the models of iPhone 13the iFixit global support community and other independent repair outlets have found that iPhone screen replacement stopped Face ID from working, limiting repairs.
