When you accumulate mileage chats in WhatsApp, there is no way to go back manually to find a precise fragment of the text: you have to use the search. The search has been going on for a long time on WhatsApp, but there will be something else at hand in future versions. In fact, it’s already in WhatsApp Beta.
WhatsApp has been renewing the user profile view for some time, with a renewed design and shortcuts for making calls and video calls. They are now joined by shortcut to search chat– Available in private and group chats.
New search shortcut
WhatsApp allows you to search your message history for a long time, although some people may not know it because it is moderately hidden. While the global search (across all chats) is quite visible, there is a magnifying glass in the conversations view, search in chat it’s in the ⋮ menu along with other options.
If this search mode does not satisfy you, WhatsApp Beta launches another much more obvious way, from a contact information window. It’s a new, prominent button, just below the contact’s name and next to the call and video buttons, which were already there.

Otherwise, the shortcut does what you’d expect: go back to the chat and open search viewas if you had used the ⋮ menu and To look for. The shortcut is available in private and group chats, which may include other shortcuts. Groups, for example, include Add (if you are an administrator), while chats with companies include that of To share.
It’s a new little tweak that shows us WhatsApp engineers give it a major facelift -and piece by piece- to WhatsApp profiles. Of course, like almost everything in WhatsApp, it’s going slowly.
