Grand Tour 7 Immerse players in the life of a self-made professional racing driver. Polyphony Digital recreates Hollywood-style beach streets, wooded terrain, and other landscapes in beautifully rendered graphics. The luxury racer returns with an extensive car catalog and more customizable options than ever before.
But these, minus the technical limitations that depend on the release date, are a given for Gran Turismo. What’s new and what’s back? Well, here’s everything we know about the Gran Turismo 7.
Gran Turismo 7 release date
Gran Turismo 7 was originally scheduled to release sometime in 2021. However, with the outbreak of the pandemic in the second half of 2020, Sony eventually pushed it back to 2022. In an interview with GQ, a PR rep cited Covid-related challenges as the main reason for the delay.
The GT7 has been affected by Covid-related production challenges, so it was moved from 2021 to 2022. With the ongoing pandemic, it’s a dynamic and changing situation, with some key aspects of game production slowing down last year.
Gran Turismo 7 release date now set March 4, 2022

Gran Turismo 7 Trailer
Sony showed off Gran Turismo 7 alongside other highly anticipated games such as Horizon Forbidden and God of War: Ragnarok at its PlayStation 5 showcase. The trailer showcases a selection of cars on a scenic track. Even with clear animations and graphics, there isn’t much explanation about settings, features, or timelines.
Several more trailers have since been released, including a September 2021 GT7 PlayStation Showcase trailer.
Over 30 minutes of GT7 PS5 footage was also revealed in Sony’s latest State of Play in early February. Martin Robinson, editor-in-chief of Eurogamer, wrote:
The ’30-minute demo re-establishes a Gran Turismo game that returns to the roots of the series, with a renewed focus on optimization and the player’s journey from driving a humble entry car, after more stripping, to multiplayer Gran Turismo Sport in the center.
Gran Turismo 7 Platform
Gran Turismo 7 will be launched PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
“It makes sense to develop a title for PS4 and PS5 — Forbidden City for Horizon, the next God of War GT7 — and we’ll keep working on it.”
So since it’s a PlayStation exclusive, it’s hard to imagine Gran Turismo 7 coming to PC and other consoles at a later date.
Gran Turismo 7 beta
There are reports of a so-called Gran Turismo 7 beta being registered on the Experience PlayStation website. However, this is a false alarm. According to Eurogamer, the site allows users to access placeholder keys such as 1234-5678-9012. However, these don’t provide any access to the beta.
PlayStation has not commented on whether the page intends to go live. The beta page no longer shows any trailers or code. However, the company may intend to release it in the future. This isn’t the first time the developers plan to beta-test the Gran Turismo game. After all, GT Sport deserved a beta, even if it never happened.
Gran Turismo 7 location
Gran Turismo 7 does not have a fixed position. In GT World, players can participate in global tours. Trial Mountain, a fictional location in the Sierra Nevada, is an example. Locations appear to belong to one of three territorial groups: Americas, Europe, and Asia/Oceania.
Kazuno Yamauchi, the longtime “Gran Turismo” director, said in an interview with accounting firm KPMG that he wanted something “more real than reality”. He recalled collecting insects, climbing mountains, and playing in rivers in his childhood. However, he said it may not be possible to have the same experience in Japan now.
What we do know is that there will be 90 “track routes” at 34 locations. So this could be a mix of multiple tracks from a s ingle location or country, providing variety even if the track’s immediate surroundings remain the same.
“In that case, why not create some kind of digital nature that, when we get out into nature, conveys the complexity and grimness of the world and the feeling that things are not going as expected,” he said. “That’s what I’m fantasizing about.
It’s unclear if that means focusing on less urban environments, like places away from skyscrapers and bright lights, or setting Gran Turismo 7 at a completely different time period.Despite Yamauchi’s words, the setting in the trailer Do Seems similar to modern environments and rooted in reality. We’ll have to see how Yamauchi’s vision manifests.
Gran Turismo 7 gameplay
At its core, Gran Turismo 7 is a racing game. Much of the game involves choosing a car, upgrading it, and racing on different tracks in the GT world.
Players have a base camp where you can check out your different cars and their specs in the garage. Auto and parts stores and learning centers like schools surround your home. As for the actual racing bits, the control panel is similar to past installments and other games in the racing genre, with speed, acceleration, and current position visible on the screen during the race.
In a YouTube video that includes a behind-the-scenes look at the Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digitial CEO Yamauchi talks about his passion for cars and what’s new in the GT7. Yamauchi also revealed that there will be more than 400 cars in Gran Turismo 7.
“Gran Turismo 7 is a comprehensive game with lots of different ways to play, whether it’s driving fast, collecting cars, designing livery in the editor, or taking pictures, all of which are elements of your ‘car life’.”
This month, Playstation Twitter The DualSense controller will enhance feel like locked braking and terrain changes on the PS5.
