Blessed Custom ROMs. In my particular case, I’m one of the users who keep installing them to this day, so I can’t stop celebrating every time an old phone comes to life thanks to a ROM. This is the case of the legendary Samsung Galaxy S4, one of Samsung’s most iconic phones and which already runs Android 12 thanks to LineageOS.
After reviving the Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android 11, the developers have given the S4 a second chance, which already has the unofficial version of LineageOS 19, the most recent version based on the cleanest system, Android 12.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is reborn with Android 12
LineageOS 19 is the latest version of the popular ROM, formerly known as CyanogenMOD. Developer Side, member of XDA Developers, created a working ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S4based on the latest version of LineageOS.
It promises that WiFi, phone connectivity, charging port, SIM card and calls, microphones and others are working, although the camera can be somewhat unstable and the Bluetooth is not fully functional. This is something completely normal in a custom ROM, and it is that Android 12 is brought to a mobile born in 2013.
Years and years later, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 can enjoy the latest version of Android thanks to ROM cooks
Almost 10 years later, we can dust off that S4 we had in the drawer and install the latest version of LineageOS to tinker. Like always, you will need to have the bootloader unlocked and custom recovery, like TWRP.
LineageOS 19 comes with the main innovations of Android 12, such as dynamic themes, new image formatsMaterial You and the privacy panel improvements that the latest Pixels get.
