The Pokémon Company announced a new Duck Sunday.
Well, not just a duck. It heralded the next generation of Pokémon. The new games will be called Pokemon scarlet and violet, and with the news came new information about the three newcomers. Among the new Pokémon is a duck named Quaxly. It’s just a duck, but fans online have noticed that Quaxly bears a resemblance to another popular cartoon character, Disney’s Donald Duck. Because of this, fans are already posting tons of memes and fan art of the two, with hilarious results.
Quaxly’s design just exudes cheekiness and class. It has a wing at the hip and rocks what looks like either a voluminous toupee or a stylish beret. (Fans online are torn as to exactly what’s on his head.) Whatever it is, it makes the brave bird look like Donald Duck, who’s also wearing a blue hat.
Quaxley joins two other cute appetizers: Fuecoco, a fire crocodile, and Sprigatito, the grass cat. However, the resemblance to Donald Duck seems to set him apart from the rest. Now people have been posting tons of memes and pictures online, joking about the uncanny resemblance between the two.
What’s more, fans are just plain smitten with the duck in general. Quaxly isn’t even the first Duck Pokémon. There’s also the water-flying type Ducklett. However, this is Quaxly’s time to shine.
