Gurman already pitched his idea for a $200 iPhone for India and other emerging markets yesterday. But he also had time to show what he hopes to be Apple Watch’s best year since launch. The journalist thus sets the bar high for infatuation very high.
Three new Apple Watches for 2022
As a product matures, it’s normal to see it roll out into other models and features. While the Apple Watch appeared as a single model in three collections different, we now have a main model followed by the Apple Watch SE and models from previous generations. According to Gurman, Apple plans to create a third and new specialized model of Apple Watch:
I think this year will be the biggest in Apple Watch history since the launch of the original model. I’m expecting three models this fall: an Apple Watch Series 8, an Apple Watch SE, and an extreme sports-oriented Apple Watch.
Don’t expect any big changes to the lineup of new health sensors. Even if Gurman thinks we might see the supposed body temperature sensor adds a new dimension to monitoring our bodies. Improvements in sports activities and faster chips are also expected (especially since the Apple S7 is almost identical to the Apple Watch Series 6).
All of this is consistent with the three Apple Watch models that Ming-Chi Kuo is also hoping for. And the “extreme” model has been talking about for at least a year. That glucose sensor on the Apple Watch may still be a long way off, but this year promises some very exciting news.
