For the occasion, Gabe Newell, the director of Valve, wanted to deliver the first Steam deck himself to certain buyers in the Seattle area. Explanations.
Gabe Newell, who looks more and more like Didier Raoult (or maybe the opposite), wanted to make a nice marketing move by shipping the first copies of Steam Deck himself to certain American customers. Especially those who live in the Seattle area where Valve is located.
A video to prove it
As you can see above, Valve took care of the film deliveries. While some seem to recognize the bearded man directly, others have obviously not become aware of the “importance” of the deliverer. Even before it was formalized, users on Reddit had started talking about it like here.
Some were even lucky enough to get a Steam Deck for free. As a matter of fact, a Reddit user explains that he stopped and said hello during a delivery to his neighbor Gabe Newell. Newell then asked how many people lived in the house before returning with 3 Steam Decks in hand. On this occasion he even had the opportunity to get an autograph.
Steam deck for everyone
Gabe spoke about the case:
For us, this is a very important moment where the deck stops being a theoretical product and I just want to see people play with it. So we end up doing what we do best: interact with our customers and improve the experience. It’s a symbolic way of doing this.
The video even shows good Lord Newell giving away copies of his Steam deck to a group of relocating youth.
