Gaming News War in Ukraine: The release date of STALKER 2 is postponed indefinitely

As you probably already know, war has been raging in Ukraine ever since Vladimir Putin decided to send his troops to the area. This situation has obviously frozen part of the video game industry and has delayed many eSports tournaments and affected the development of many games, starting with STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl.

The development of STALKER 2 is suspended

After Tiraxa dives into the article “How is the war in Ukraine slowing down the entire video game industry?” To further explain the current situation, GSC Game World has just taken the floor via video to announce the bad news: the release date of STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl, already postponed last January, is delayed again, but this time indefinitely. The reason for all this: the war, which has been in full swing in Ukraine for several days.

Indeed, through a making-of video (available below) in which we see how the motion capture sessions are carried out, the studio announces that the discussion session with the developers is canceled and Ultimately, STALKER 2 will not be released in 2022.

We strive to help our employees and their families survive. The development of the game fell by the wayside. But we will definitely continue… after the win. GSC game world

In other words, the development of the game, although well advanced, was suspended and will certainly resume after the end of the war. For our part, we wholeheartedly support the developers and their families.

As a reminder, STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl was originally scheduled for release on December 8th and was due to launch on PC and Xbox Series X|S on the day of its release, and land on Xbox Game Pass.
