Elden Ring is widely regarded as an absolute blockbuster and one of the best games in a long time, but the launch was not without problems. That’s why the makers are now delivering a first update with improvements.
From Software has announced the release of the new version 1.02.2 update for Elden Ring. This is the developer’s response to criticism due to some annoying problems since the release of the blockbuster. The patch will benefit players on PC and PS5.
On Sony’s PlayStation 5, the hotfix fixes an issue that could previously cause game progress to be lost. The savegame bug led to this loss if, for example, the console was disconnected from the power supply even in sleep mode. The annoying error should now be a thing of the past. Previously, From Software had advised players on the PS5 to regularly save their game progress manually by ending the game. To do this, the app on the home screen of the PS5 also had to be closed.
As for the PC, among other things they fixed a problem that caused the graphics card not to be really used at all; as a result, the performance was of course extremely slow. A crash issue under certain conditions during the fight with the Fire Giant is also a thing of the past, as well as various minor bugs.
The PC version of the game was criticized for its rather weak performance. The technology experts at Digital Foundry also emphasized that this was “simply not good enough”. Bandai Namco had promised to continue working on improvements to enable smooth play on different PC environments.
