Far from being another 2D rogue-lite, Have a Nice Death plays on one of its greatest assets: its screenplay. That’s why the Magic Design Studios teams decided to share news about their next game by revealing a funny video about the situation facing the multinational company Death Incorporated: A fun way to introduce the next generation of rogue-lite and justify the search for that dear grim reaper that borders on burnout behind her desk.
The trailer, available at the top of the article, puts us alongside a young recruit, to whom we explain how the company works while discussing the company’s different branches. We quickly meet Death, a taciturn character who relies on caffeine and swears by work. The narrator also takes the opportunity to retrace the history of Death Incorporated and what made the CEO trade his scythe for a postage stamp and A4 sheets of paper.
However, the brilliant idea of death building their society, the Scourges, eventually backfired. Anything but framed Death’s creations eventually prompted her to adopt a boring bureaucratic lifestyle, but now she’s determined to get back in the field and pull up the braces of her eager employees.
