The humanitarian crisis that Ukraine is going through continues to produce political, economic and social movements on a daily basis. Big companies like Apple wanted to get involved in the conflict by stopping the shipment and sale of products on Russian territory. In addition, Apple has decided to block the download of Russian applications RT News and Sputnik News outside of Russia. a few hours ago, those in Cupertino have enabled a donation system to help the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine through UNICEF available on iTunes.
Apple handles donations to Ukraine through UNICEF
The big apple led by its CEO Tim Cook wanted to get involved in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia from the first minute. A few days ago, I sent an email to all Apple employees expressing their concern for those affected and the violence that is seen daily during the Russian invasion from Ukraine:
With each new image of families fleeing their homes and brave citizens fighting for their lives, we see how important it is for people around the world to come together to advance the cause of peace.
In that same email, Tim Cook encouraged its employees to donate support as much as possible the delivery of humanitarian aid to the affected territory. In fact, Apple promised to match employee donations in a 2:1 ratio to certain organizations, making it retroactive to February 25, the day the Russian invasion began.
Now it’s the turn bring the request for help to citizens and society at large via iTunes. Apple has created a portal on iTunes where the user can donate between 5 and 150 dollars to UNICEF to help families affected by the war Ukraine is currently waging.
