Turtle Rock Studios Announces Over 10 Million Players Played return 4 blood since its release last fall.
News of this milestone comes with the announcement of the first DLC, Tunnel of Terror, which will launch on April 12.
Content will be released as part of the Back 4 Blood: Ultimate Edition, Back 4 Blood: Deluxe Edition, Back 4 Blood Annual Pass, or as a separate purchase. The expansion will feature a new Ridden Hives PvE co-op event, new playable Cleaners and Ridden variants, exclusive character and weapon skins, and more.
Steve Goldstein, president and general manager of Turtle Rock Studios, said: “Achieving such a milestone in such a short time since the release of Back 4 Blood is a historic event for our studio and the franchise. .”
“Going forward, we’re excited to keep this momentum going with our upcoming expansion, Tunnel of Horrors, which will provide fans with even more collaborative content to continue cleaning up the world of the Rider.”
In Tunnels of Terror, teams of up to four can participate in a new co-op event called Ridden Hives. Here, they’ll explore seven different dungeons deep within Fort Evans, filled with tunnels, where a new type of Ridden lives, called the Warped Ridden.
To earn exclusive loot and rewards only available in Ridden Hives, players must deftly defeat the new Warped Ridden, including the mine-setting Urchins, Shredders, and damage-dealing Rippers. The new Warped Ridden variant can also be played in PvP Swarm mode.
The upcoming expansion will introduce two new playable cleaners – Sharice, the ax-wield ing fireman, and Heng, the restaurateur. Tunnel of Horror also includes eight exclusive character skins, seven new legendary weapons, 12 new weapon skins, new cards, and more.
The expansion will coincide with the release of the No Hope difficulty setting, a free update that adds an extra level of challenge for elite players. It’s worth noting that as long as one player in a party has purchased the expansion, all players in that party will have access to all of the playable content included in the Tunnels of Horror expansion.
Additionally, no microtransactions of any kind, cosmetic or otherwise, will be added to the game as part of this expansion or any future content updates.
