Two of Apple’s biggest leakers agree, and everything indicates that we’ll soon see a new external display from Apple.
When two of the people who filter Apple news the most agree, it’s hard for them to be wrong. Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman have revealed in recent hours that Apple is working on a new external displaywhich could be revealed in the impending Apple event.
Starting with Gurman, the well-known leaker and journalist of Bloomberg reports Apple completed development of a new external monitor ‘months ago’, so it stands to reason that it could be released during Tuesday’s event. This would be Apple’s first display since the launch of the Pro Display XDR in 2019
I also wouldn’t rule out Apple previewing its next-gen external display. I’m told that Apple finished work months ago and the device was supposed to launch shortly after last year’s MacBook Pro. Apple’s latest in-ear monitor arrived in 2019 alongside Intel’s Mac Pro.
In addition to this external screen, Gurman reports that we might also see a new Mac mini which integrates the M2 chip or the M1 Pro, a Mac that could arrive with others tomorrow.
A source tells me that Apple has been testing several Macs with a new chip in recent weeks that includes an octa-core processor (four efficiency cores and four performance cores) and 10 GPU cores. These are exactly the specifications of the M2 chip.
On the other hand we have Kuo, who reported on this new screen giving more details. Kuo assures us that we will see a Apple’s new 27-inch external display cheaper than the Pro Display XDR this year, as well as a new Mac mini. Plus, he dropped another bombshell, making sure the new iMac Pro and Mac Pro won’t arrive until 2023.
Predictions for Apple’s new desktop products:
1. 2022: More powerful Mac mini and more affordable external display (27 inches without mini-LED).
2. 2023: Mac Pro and iMac Pro.—Ming-Chi Kuo (@mingchikuo) March 6, 2022
Apple could show us a lot of things at its event on Tuesday, and a lot of other devices that we won’t see yet. One of them may be this new external panel that aims very high.
