Mac Studio: This is the intermediate step between a Mac mini and a Mac Pro that we expect

There’s nothing that excites us more than when suddenly, just days after an Apple event, serious rumors appear from reliable sources about a brand new product from the company. In this case, we are talking about a new Mac tentatively called “Studio”, and it could redefine Apple’s professional line of desktop computers. let’s collect everything we know about this ‘Mac Studio’ In one place.

What design will the Mac Studio have?

Luke Miani showed it makes what this Mac Studio can be: a kind of Mac mini but with more height somewhat reminiscent of the G4 Cube of yesteryear. In the images you can see hot air exhaust vents in the base, indicating that there would be internal fans inside; and a white top.

Nothing has been said about what ports this Mac might have, although it will surely have USB-C ports and possibly an HDMI port for external displays. In fact, a corresponding ‘Studio Display’ should come out. The source of this rumor also talks about a discreet LED light on the front of the Mac.

What chip and what features will the Mac Studio have?

If we talk about something aimed at professionals, this ‘Mac Studio’ should have M1 Pro chip at least (Although there may be a base version that will serve as the new Mac mini, that’s all to see). This chip should have a good number of graphics cores and be exposed to a heat sink and ventilation system to keep it from getting too hot.

If we mix up the older rumors, we could see up to 40 CPU cores and 128 GPU cores in this Mac Studio. It might be the most powerful Mac ever if it outperforms the Intel Mac Pros sold today.

At what price can the Mac Studio have?

If the ‘Mac Studio’ is a computer intended for professionals we shouldn’t be faced with something exactly cheap, although you should also take into account that it would be a Mac without a monitor and that should represent savings. No one has said anything about the prices, but maybe I would dare to bet on prices between 2,500 and 3,000 dollars as a base. Take that with a grain of salt, because I’m not relying on anything reliable to say that. It all depends on how Apple wants to approach this computer.

Rumors about the “Mac Studio” appeared very suddenly, so its presentation date could be as early as this Tuesday during the “Peek Performance” event. If not, maybe we can expect it in the summer or fall of this year.
