Racing fans with a soft spot for management simulations have reason to be happy, because for once Formula 1 is being picked up as such and not as a thoroughbred racing game.
Today Frontier Developments announced the F1 Manager 2022. The new management sim is set to be released this summer, after Frontier signed a license agreement with F1 in early 2020. It’s the studio’s first foray into an annual sports license and part of a long-term, cross-title agreement with F1. The release is planned for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).
In F1 Manager 2022 you take over the management of a Formula 1 team and have to take care of your drivers, engineers and fans. The aim is, of course, to win the drivers’ world championship and the constructors’ world championship. Thanks to the license, Frontier wants to ensure a high degree of authenticity and promises “a presentation in television quality”.
There are many aspects to managing your team: cars and facilities need upgrades, drivers and engineers need to be hired, budgets and driver needs need to be balanced – all before the start of the race weekend. In order to lead your own team to victory in the subsequent race, you should keep a cool head even under pressure, as one or the other critical decision is waiting for you.
Further details and a specific release date for the new management simulation are still pending.
