Summary
- Never two without three?
- A technique adapted in five months?
Never two without three?
The first (and last?) Final Fantasy game of the year, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be revealed at E3 2021. Developed by Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja, the title is expected on March 18 and could be presented tonight at PlayStation Game Status. Why ? A new demo version of the game was spotted on the PlayStation Game Size page earlier today: It would weigh 35,730 GB and would also be available for PlayStation 4.
More than consistent timing with tonight’s State of Play, this new playable demo would be unveiled there, allowing Square Enix to announce the transfer of the demo backups to the full game release expected next week. A strategy the publisher has already used recently: during the Nintendo Direct, Square Enix announced a new Triangle Strategy demo as well as a carryover of its backup to the full game, which is expected ten days later. .
A technique adapted in five months?
On this subject, it is worth remembering that Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin has already been the subject of two demos. The first, distributed after the game was announced in June 2021, had some issues at launch. A second one, currently available on PlayStation Store, will be released in early October and will offer players a level set in a forest. The latter tests several classes (some of which have been reworked for the occasion) such as the thief, the black mage or the monk, allowing players multiple playstyles.
However, during our preview there was a stuttering technique that did the art direction a disservice. The latter, which contains the classic codes of fantasy specific to the Final Fantasy saga, is itself not”unsupported by an awkward disconnect between these realistic looking characters and the fantasy world they inhabit“. Has Square Enix had five months to fix these bugs? Response no later than March 18th when Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin releases March 18th on PC (Epic Games), PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.
