A keynote that hits the table
The keynote that Apple usually celebrates in the spring (or almost) is generally reserved for secondary or minor products. This is how we saw it in the context of the Apple Event. An educational iPad. The first iPhone SE. The announcement of Apple TV+. You can see where the shots are going.
With last Tuesday’s presentation, Apple took a real hit on the table. It is true that the iPhone SE 2022 and the iPad Air 2022 are important, but secondary products. As were the news of Apple TV+ or the new green color of the iPhone 13.
But the real stars were the M1 Ultra chip and the Mac Studio. Together, they became Apple’s most powerful Mac, ahead of the Mac Pro in a much more expensive Intel configuration (Although old, of course). And that puts Intel in a lot of trouble.
Because the former chip supplier Apple has already stressed that its intention was to reach M1 in… 2023! Things are about to get very interesting, even more when the first Mac Studio units start arriving with the M1 Ultra. We’ve left Apple Display Studio for last, though it is a most interesting monitor. There are certainly other cheaper options on the market, but Apple offers more integration and an A13 Bionic chip (more powerful than many Android smartphones).
