Gamescom 2022 is back with a hybrid on-site and remote and greener edition. The opening ceremony organized by Geoff Keighley also takes place.
Will we finally see video game events the way they used to be? The situation is encouraging because after returning to the old Tokyo Game Show 2022, Gamescom 2022 is also returning to its roots.
A hybrid edition
After two years of an intense pandemic, this is the first time the situation has given us any glimpse of a return to normality. And this is thanks to an increasingly important lifting of restrictions. Given this finding, the Gamescom 2022 will take place at Koelnmesse in Colognein Germany, from August 24th to 28th. yes face to face
Felix Falk, Managing Director of game (Association of German Video Game Professionals), says:
This is what all fans and partners of Gamescom have been waiting for for two years: the fair is finally back in the Cologne exhibition halls and with it the unique festival feeling that we missed so much. This year, We combine the best of both worlds: our extensive online program with the incomparable on-site experience. Gamescom is also setting new standards in terms of sustainability: With the “Gamescom goes green” initiative, we are making the trade fair a special and climate-friendly event for visitors and exhibitors.
The organization also promises to open up new areas for cosplay, retrogaming, or even the independent video game scene.
Gamescom 2022 and their opening ceremony Opening Night Live
And so that it is (really) like it used to be, Geoff Keighley will also be in Cologne for the opening ceremony. This evening, which takes place the day before the show, offers developers the opportunity to exchange ideas and show their games. It’s kind of a conference like E3. In 2019, in the old world, Hideo Kojima had come to his Death Stranding with unreleased trailers.
The moderator therefore gives us See you on August 23rd next for thatOpening night live from Gamescom 2022.
