Kirby has become one of the most popular gaming mascots in recent years, especially because his nonviolent nature appeals to both young and old players, like many Nintendo characters.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the latest title coming to Nintendo Switch on March 25, featuring floating pink creatures. Instead of the usual £44.99 MSRP, Currys has a deal that lets you pre-order it for £38.24 when you enter code KIRBY at checkout. Saving 15% might not seem like much, but Nintendo games are rarely discounted, especially pre-releases, so that’s great.
The Forgotten Lands is significant, not only because it’s Kirby’s new creation, but also because it’s the character’s first true 3D adventure. The story follows Kirby into a post-apocalyptic world known as the Forgotten Land. He finds that the Waddle Dees creatures have been taken by monsters called the Beast Pack. Together with your new partner Elfilin, you help Kirby free these creatures and end the corrupt forces in this mysterious world.
Not only can you expect great platforming, environmental puzzles, and the usual help of Kirby Mouth as you traverse the forgotten lands, but there’s a whole new way of playing Kirby in this game.
“Mouth Mode” allows Kirby to swallow huge objects like a hungry snake, and has similar functions to those objects. This includes a car mode where you control Kirby like a vehicle or a vending machine, allowing you to attack enemies with soda cans. It’s as if Kirby’s mouth has turned into Mario’s hat in Super Mario Odyssey, and we can’t wait to be surprised when the game launches.
