Chinese giant adds Spanish studio talent as partner, after becoming its majority shareholder

Tencent acquired almost all of the Spanish developer tequila workscreators of RiME, Gylt, The Sexy Brutale, Deadlight or the next Song of Nunu – League of Legends. The studio is based in Madrid and was founded in 2009, perhaps its most acclaimed work is RiME.

Light Sancho, president of Tequila Works, announced that he was delighted to join such a powerful ally as Tencent in order to make the studio even stronger. This way, they will be able to create better quality games and access better resources. He also comments that this way they will be able to present their projects to a wider audience.

On the other hand, Peter Smith (vice-president of Tencent Games Global) commented that the affection, creativity and detail of all the company’s titles have dazzled a large community of users. For this reason, he comments that he is looking forward to working with the studio and thus bringing us very ambitious games in the future.

Raul Rubio, CEO of Tequila Works, also explained how Tencent respects the studio’s independence, giving them creative freedom. He also says that this way they will be able to take their work to higher levels of quality.
