Windows 11 and Windows 10 get a new feature for the Microsoft Edge browser that helps people with impaired vision. She reads the content of the picture to you.

Anyone who has installed Windows 11 or Windows 10 has also received the Edge browser from Microsoft. For many users, this only serves to download another browser. But thanks to a new function, the tool could now further break down the barriers of the internet for blind people.
how Microsoft in a blog post reported, is intended to fill a functional gap in many read-aloud applications. They can read out the captions, for example, but cannot describe what the picture shows if there is no picture description.
Image description with AI support
This is where the automatic image recognition of the Edge browser comes in. The browser sends said image to Microsoft’s recognition service Azure Cognitive Services, which returns the best possible description to the browser. The software analyzes both the content of the image and any text it may contain in up to 120 languages and can differentiate between them.
The voice output of the image description is currently possible in five languages, but German is not yet included. Microsoft warns that the descriptions aren’t perfect yet. However, these descriptions are better than none at all.
