You can now use Google Chrome as the default browser on your iPhone or iPad.
For multiple versions of iOS and iPadOS, we can change the default browser on our iPhone or iPad. That is, we can configure Google Chrome, for example, as an alternative to Safari and that each link received by applications like Mail or WhatsApp opens by default in the Google application.
This function is only available with the iPhones with iOS 14 or later installed and iPads with iPadOS 14 or later
Set Google Chrome as Default Browser on iPhone
The procedure for change google chrome preferences and that it can be set as the default browser on the iPhone or iPad is as follows, the same applies if you want to use another default browser on your iPhone or iPad:
- On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings.
- Find Google Chrome, it will be in the bottom area where the app settings are.
- In Chrome, you will see an option called “Default browser app”.
- Upon entering, Safari will be selected.
- Tap Chrome to use it as default.
Once you have enabled Chrome as your default browser, a new tab will appear in Settings > Safari from which we can reconfigure the Apple browser as the default browser.
This option is also compatible with other browsers, such as Firefox, if they have been updated to support this new feature. You can set them as your default browser by following the same steps.
