Video game leaker and journalist Tom Henderson has published an in-depth article about Ubisoft and what the company has planned for gamers this year and the next. He says that Ubisoft has been planning a big gaming event where they plan to provide an update on previously announced games as well as introduce some new ones. The company was initially planning to hold the event before the summer so that it gets the attention it needs. However, current world events such as the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces have caused the company to reschedule its plans.
On the topic of games, Ubisoft was reportedly pleasantly surprised regarding sales for Immortals: Fenyx Rising and is currently busy readying a sequel to the entertaining debut. Tom says that a brand new Prince of Persia game is in active development and it will be a 2.5D adventure title. Henderson also mentioned that development is going exceedingly well on the next Mario + Rabbids game, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, which is still on track to be released later this year.
Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel
Ubisoft was apparently pleased with the performance of 2020’s Immortals Fenyx Rising, and I’ve been informed that a sequel is in development.
The title is in its pre-production stage and presumably in development by Ubisoft Quebec, who is also working on a new Assassin’s Creed title.
Recently, the studio has been hiring talent for the title, but no other details have been provided.
Prince of Persia (unknown title)
A second Prince of Persia title is reportedly in the works at Ubisoft, with Ubisoft Montpellier being involved in the project. The game was described as taking “inspiration from Ori” and will be a 2.5D game.
Additional details on this title were slim, but I hope to be able to reveal more shortly. Nonetheless, it does seem that Ubisoft is actively working on a second Prince of Persia title.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
The sequel to Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was first announced at last year’s E3 event in June 2021. Not many additional details have been given about the game, apart from the combat being notably different this time around, with the title being a “new take on the tactical genre,” according to game director Davide Soliani.
It appears that the development of Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is going well and that it will release within the 2022 window.
