Late last year, Google launched the Pixel 6 series, but we were missing one model: the Google Pixel 6a.
As has happened with the last two generations, where the 4th and 5th have put their most expensive variants on the ropes, there are high expectations for the Pixel 6a.
In fact, it could become the mobile phone that most people think of when considering buying an affordable yet high quality Android flagship.
Here we collect all the information and rumors that are already circulating about the Google Pixel 6a.
When will the Google Pixel 6a be launched?
Google hasn’t made an official statement on anything Pixel 6a yet, but the information that has leaked gives us an idea.
the escape Max Jamborenormally reliable, indicates that the 6a will be released this month mayonnaise. It will be then that Google will celebrate its annual Google I/O conference, scheduled for the days May 11 and 12.
The company has used this event to launch Pixel a series products in the past, so it would make sense for the 6a to arrive then.
another filter, Jon Prossersaid the Pixel Watch will arrive on May 26, but warns the 6a may not arrive at the same time, suggesting that due to chip shortages the phone could be delayed until end of Julyperhaps also next to the widespread Google Pixel Fold.
It’s also possible that the Pixel 6a will be unveiled at I/O, but won’t go on sale until July or later.
For reference, here are the release dates for previous models:
- Google Pixel 5a: August 2021 (North America and Japan only)
- Google Pixel 4a: August 2020
- Google Pixel 3a: May 2019
Now it must be said that in Europe, Europe and most other markets the Pixel 5a never arrived because it was a limited release. We do not know if the 6a will follow this pattern and only arrive in a few markets, or if it will be released worldwide again.
How much will the Google Pixel 6a cost?
The price of Pixel models, Google’s cheapest, has been reasonably consistent over the past few years, as can be seen in the list below:
- Google Pixel 5a: $449 (around $399)
- Google Pixel 4a 5G: $499
- Google Pixel 4a: $349
- Google Pixel 3a: $399
The Pixel 4a 5G was a bit of an outlier, in that it bumped the price by around $150 over its predecessors. With the Pixel 5a, on the other hand, the price has dropped a bit, which could indicate that it will be cheaper again.
Hopefully Google keeps the 5a priced and ultimately costs around $449. However, that may not be the case due to global chip shortages and supply chain disruptions, which are causing brands to raise prices. Only time will tell.
What features will the Google Pixel 6a have?
As we said before, Google has not yet decided on the Pixel 6a, but several rumors are already circulating that shed light on the possible configuration that the terminal will have.
Some of the most compelling information comes from OnLeaksa generally accurate filter and which this time shared details and 3D rendered images in collaboration with Indian technology site 91Mobiles.

In the report, it is said that the device will feature a 6.2-inch flat OLED display, with an in-display fingerprint sensor and a central hole-punch for the camera. GSM Arena adds that the resolution could be 1080 x 2400 and 424 ppi.
From a design perspective, rendered images of 91Mobiles They display a very similar aesthetic to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. According to a leak from Android Police, it would be available in black, white and green.
Its dimensions are estimated at 152.2 x 71.8 x 8.7mm (up to 10.4mm for the rear camera bulge). The glass rear would be similar, as would the iconic camera strip on the back, which would house the dual cameras and LED flash.
One obvious missing item is the 3.5mm headphone jack, making this the first “a”-series Pixel phone to miss one. Although wireless headsets are becoming more and more affordable, it’s a shame to lose what, for some, is a pretty important piece of a phone.
Hopefully the 6a will use the same Tensor chip that Google introduced with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Obviously that would make sense, as it gives Google more control over the overall experience while continuing to develop it.
This is precisely what we saw in a post from Geekbenchwhich confirms the presence of the Tensor with 6 GB of RAM, and shows performance similar to that of the 6 and 6 Pro.
Leaker Shadow_Leak shared a specs list on Twitter that includes the Tensor chip, apparently accompanied by 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
The leak also agrees that it would have a 6.2″ OLED screen (although in a later tweet it clarified that the screen won’t be 120Hz, despite what the next tweet says).
Google Pixel 6a planned for the second quarter of 2022.
Specifications
-6.2-inch 120Hz OLED right-hand display
-Tensor GS101 chipset same as 6/6Pro
-6GB/8GB RAM
-128 GB of storage
-4800mAh + 30W charging
– 12.2 MP (IMX363) + 12 MP (IMX386) ultra-wide-angle rear camera
-8MP (IMX355) Selfie
-Android 12
-8.7mm thick— Sam (@Shadow_Leak)

According to Shadow_Leak, the battery will be around 4,800mAh and will support 30W charging. Although, after the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro used slower-than-30W charging, that should be taken with a grain of salt. salt.
The cameras will likely remain the same as on the Pixel 5a, although Shadow_Leak’s tweet mentions a slightly different 12MP ultra-wide instead of the 5a’s 16MP.
It would be purely a financial decision, as the lenses of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are probably too expensive to offer to the cheaper model.
To be fair, the Pixel 4a and 5a’s cameras were excellent, so anyone who buys the Pixel 6a will likely be very happy with the results.
