When it comes to Ikea, most people probably first think of beds or cupboards, although the furniture store has also brought numerous products in the field of technology and smart home onto the market in recent years – such as smart speakers. The latest addition to this portfolio is the Vappeby speaker. This combines the functions of a lamp with the functions of a Bluetooth speaker.
The device is equipped with a Spotify tap button, which makes streaming music via Spotify quick and easy. As soon as the Spotify tap button is pressed, the system will continue playing where it left off and continue the playlist. Another push of a button lets the jukebox play a random playlist from your library. Of course, you can also play music from other providers on your smartphone.
IP65 and 360 degree beam of light
The loudspeaker is protected against dust and splash water according to IP65, which means that it can also be used outdoors. With the 360 degree beam of light, the lamp is perfect for barbecues or long summer evenings with music.
According to the manufacturer, the speaker should be able to play music for up to 12 hours at a time, although this information probably refers to use with light. The lamp is charged with a conventional USB-C cable, although the adapter is not included in the scope of delivery.
