Traditionally, screen size and device power or specs went hand in hand at Apple. We see it with the iPhone, where the Max variant is only present on the Pro models, we also see it on the iPad, where if you want to reach 12.9 inches you have to upgrade to the iPad Pro . we are starting to see changes in this trend.
Bigger size and better specs
I’m writing this from a 16″ MacBook Pro with M1 Pro. Do I need an M1 Pro? Surely this would have happened with an M1, but I wanted a laptop and a big screen to work on
It’s been several generations of iPhones in which We only see the surname Max behind that of Pro. An interesting combination, no doubt, but one that might not quite convince those who are simply looking for a bigger size without wanting much more.
On the iPhone, we are already seeing a reversal of this trend. The iPhone 14 will come in two sizes: 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches. The variant, the novelty, is that both sizes will be available for both entry models as for the Pro model. So we have this distribution:
- iPhone 14: 6.1 inches
- iPhone 14 Max: 6.7 inches
- iPhone 14 Pro: 6.1 inches
- iPhone 14 Pro Max: 6.7 inches
With this distribution, we can choose the screen size we prefer regardless of the specifications that we are looking for. A change that, as we published today, will surely also reach the educational iPad.
The MacBook Air may just be the start
A new MacBook Air with a 15-inch screen is really interesting. From office tasks, where the power required is low and a large screen is always useful, to simply being able to be on the networks or watch movies, this combination promises
We’ve also been hearing rumors for some time about the possibility of new, larger iPads coming. We are talking, on the one hand, of the 12.9-inch model which increases to 14, for example, but also of there could be a bigger iPad Air. A change completely in line with that of the MacBook Air that we have just commented on and also that of the iPhone 14 that we explained above.
If the rumors are true, please remember that we only rely on predictions, Apple would be rethink the distribution strategy by size. A distribution that would now allow us to independently choose different key device variables, such as power and screen size, more independently. A novelty, when it arrives, which, without a doubt, will be welcome.
