Thanks to Warzone Season 2 Reloaded, Respawn Island is the best ever

Island, Reloaded, Respawn, Season, Warzone

It’s been a few days since the new Respawn Island launched with the Warzone Season 2 Reload update, and the map has undergone a massive overhaul and added a slew of new content in the form of new points of interest, weapon trading points, and more.

Considering it’s still early days for the map, this rework is starting to feel like the best-in-class update we’ve seen in a while, raising the quality of Respawn Island to a level well above the previous iterations. While some argue that Caldera falls short, Rebirth Island is one of the best Warzone maps we’ve seen in a while.

For those unaware, Respawn Island has been in The War Zone for some time now. First introduced in the first season of the original Warzone, and has been around since as a replacement for Verdansk’s expansive open map. However, since the Warzone Pacific and Caldera maps launched, Caldera has gained a ton of new players thanks to the controversial Marmite-esque popularity of Caldera’s tropical setting in the community. Either love or hate.

Fast forward to Warzone Season 2 Reloaded, and Respawn Island is getting some love with an expansion and a dedicated series of community challenges that push the player base onto the map. Take a look at Reddit and the plethora of changes have become a treat.

“With new POIs and new lights, Rebirth has a whole new feel. The flow of the map has completely changed. Security (strongholds) are no longer at a huge lowland disadvantage to residential areas,” wrote Reddit user Butterflychunks. “Two A boat on a pier does the same thing, providing ground leveling for buildings that once towered over low ground with little cover. Now that prison roofs and water towers are hardly so safe, there are several ways to get to the top.

These things forced me to take a new way of playing Respawn. These highlands, once a major influence in the shootout, were far less powerful. The experience is far less predictable than it used to be. ”

These compliments go hand in hand with Rebirth Solo, a new playlist event that has solo squads rushing to Rebirth Island for faster-paced, high-intensity gameplay to counter Caldera’s slower-paced and more verbose experience. Reddit user CJFrancis282 posted “Resurgence Solo is one of the best mods to add to Warzone and definitely needs to stick with the other Resurgence modes. I’ve been passionate about Resurgence Solo since they added it. A way to advertise their updated respawn map, I don’t think it’s going to be around forever. But I sure hope so!”

So, what to draw from the unavoidable and obvious comparison between this new respawn island and the crater. If nothing else, it underscores the advantages of having super-fast, intense options for a more traditional slow-moving battle royale. If the team at Raven Software can keep this momentum going with the rest of Warzone Pacific and bring every aspect of the game to this level, it could be an early indication that the best is yet to come.
