Gaming News Quantic Dream (Star Wars Eclipse): the French studio bought by a Chinese giant?
We no longer need to introduce Quantic Dream, a Parisian studio that is among the most prestigious in France and the source of many PlayStation hits that have now become multiplatform. According to the English media, the company is to be bought by a large Chinese company in the industry.

It is Media Exputer who confirms this in an “exclusive” article signed by a certain Tom Henderson: according to its sources, the website states so NetEase Inc is preparing to fully acquire Quantic Dream. Founded in 1997 and co-led by David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière, the French studio had already been approached in 2019 following the Chinese giant’s equity investment, but remained in the minority.
NetEase’s acquisition of Quantic Dream has reportedly been under discussion for months and is set to be announced this summer, according to Exporter. The article also claims, still according to its sources, that the Paris studio has been attempting to be fully acquired since its partnership with Sony ended: He allegedly approached several outside companies to seduce him by showing off a certain “Project Karma,” a new space exploration game. That later became… Star Wars Eclipse, announced at the 2021 Game Awards last December.
Back to Tencent, the big guy with an insatiable appetite
Remember, NetEase is a real monster of the global internet. As the owner of an extremely popular web portal in China, she has a strong local presence in search engine or email address technology and is no stranger to video games, having originally launched an MMO known there called Fantasy Westward Journey (and a bunch of others actually, including even a Fortnite clone).
