Over the past few days, we have heard several stories of a new coronavirus affecting game production and features, including the recently announced Animal Crossing Change the bundle. Pre-orders for the upcoming console have been delayed in Japan following the outbreak, prompting Nintendo to apologize to fans.
Now, to eliminate any confusion it may have caused, Nintendo has released a statement regarding future production across Europe and North America. It states that "it does not expect to have a significant impact on our broad-based supply chain", noting that pre-orders in those regions are currently safe.
Here is the complete statement shared by Nintendo's American spokesman Kotaku:
We can confirm that the production of certain Nintendo products in the Japanese market is delayed due to the impact of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus accident. Nintendo does not expect to have a significant impact on our broad network of global supply of systems and equipment at this time, and product sales in North America and Europe, including restrictions, are not affected. We would like to voice our concerns and the support of all those affected by the coronavirus during this challenging time.
