The official Japanese Twitter account of Final Fantasy VII Remake has been presenting curious details about their world. From the bathrooms Torre Shinra up to the price of a ticket for the play ‘LOVELESS’ (50,000 Gil). Now it is the turn of the birds equivalent to horses in the world of Final Fantasythose with a chocolaty name.
Chocobo is the iconic official mascot of the franchise and in Final Fantasy VII Remake we can appreciate it more realistic and giant. In this new concept art shared by Square Enix, we see the Chocobo from two angles, with small head and feathers, thicker neck, raised tail, and large legs. They vary a bit from previous versions, but retain their grace.
On Final Fantasy VII, we could breed Chocobos to make them run in the Gold Saucer. In fact, breeding a black species of Chocobo is the only way to obtain the most powerful summoning ‘Materia’ in the game. There are also blue and green Chocobos, with mountain and river abilities that avoid racing obstacles. Only by joining a black Chocobo with another can we obtain the elusive golden Chocobo.
A ‘Chocobo Bean Popcorn’ stall located in the market also appears in the revealed art. This food is obtained by frying Chocobo beans, named for their resemblance to the bird. The beans retain their shape once fried, and taste similar to popcorn in our world. By consuming them quickly, the user can belch a Chocobo-like sound (“Kweh!”).
Final Fantasy VII Remake is available on PS4. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is available on PS5 and PC with the bonus episode INTERmission. The next episode is currently in development.
