After months of teasing what was to come, Microsoft has finally announced the next set of features coming to Windows 11.
at your event Hybrid work Held this April 5, the company revealed the major updates we can expect for File Explorer, accessibility news, and renewed calls from Teams, but that’s not all.
File Explorer was redesigned with the introduction of Windows 11, but it will soon receive three new features. Microsoft started testing adding tabs last month and will also add the option to pin favorite files to the Start screen and a quick view of the last activity (probably only if you’re a Microsoft subscriber). 365).
Other changes can be found in the Start menu, although they were previously announced. The “Pinned” section now allows apps to be grouped into folders, while “Search Highlights” offers additional contextual information and more relevant search results.
Microsoft previously announced a system-wide live captioning feature, but it’s not the only accessibility tool on the way. Voice Access takes it a step further, allowing full control of a Windows 11 device using just your voice.
Along with the Surface Adapter Kit for Microsoft devices, it’s very positive to see the company prioritizing accessibility.
Beyond that, Microsoft continues to refine its productivity tools. The company introduced Focus Sessions, which help you stay focused and reduce distractions for a set amount of time. You will be able to take regular breaks and quickly hide and pause incoming notifications.
New features are also being added to video calls in Microsoft Teams. You will be able to blur the background more realistically and it will look like you are looking at the camera when you are actually looking at the screen.
The screenshot below shows an example of these features and also mentions improving audio through noise cancellation.
Although the event Hybrid work Business-focused, Windows 11’s enhanced security features are equally relevant to consumers. Microsoft Defender’s SmartScreen feature has improved phishing detection, while Smart App Control blocks malicious apps before they can spread malware. malware on the device.
Microsoft hasn’t confirmed when these features will come to Windows 11 yet. Some of them may arrive with the 22H2 update, but others may arrive even sooner.
Windows 365 updates
Microsoft announced Windows 365 in 2021 as a way for employees to access cloud-based computers from anywhere. During the April 5 event, it was confirmed that three new features will be added to the service.
The first, known as Windows 365 Boot, allows you to connect directly to the PC in the cloud whenever the device is turned on. This is an improvement over the current system, where you first need to log into your regular desktop.
But it will also be easier to switch between them, thanks to a new task selector. In theory, this will make the process as easy as moving between open windows.
But perhaps the most important new feature is Windows 365 Offline, which allows you to continue working on your Cloud PC even if the Internet connection is down. Changes will be saved once the connection is restored.
However, again, it’s not yet clear when these features will be added to Windows 365, or if they will be available on all plans. Microsoft also announced many other features for business customers.
