Security in mobile application stores is crucial because it is where the vast majority of users go to install programs for our mobiles. Google knows this and that’s why it has implemented so many such functions in the Google Play Store, in addition to those related to tablets.
Now it goes further by forcing developers to update their apps to at least one version of Android that is less than two years old, thereby forcing apps to use the l atest Android security methods.
Apps compatible with Android 11 or higher
In the article published by Google and intended for developers, it is explained that from November, shortly after the official launch of Android 13, all applications that are in the Google Play Store must be optimized for Android 11 at minimum.
Until now, apps could be in the store and see years go by without an update, but since November this year, all app updates must meet this requirement. And those that haven’t been updated for two years won’t be able to be installed on Android devices.
There is an exception to this rule. If we already have an application or game that we have downloaded in our history, we can continue to do so on other mobiles, but we will not be able to discover applications that have not been updated since Google will start to hide them.
This will encourage developers to update their apps, which shouldn’t be a problem because it’s not that it prevents installation in previous versions of Android, it just increases its security.
